Steve Piehl, Director of Communications for Harley-Davidson Motor Company, joined the Motor Company in 1979. Piehl is involved with several consumer-focused projects, including motorcycle safety activities, motorcycle noise communication and efforts to build even closer relationships between the company and Harley-Davidson riders.

Piehl also sits on the Wisconsin Motorcycle Safety Advisory Committee and assists the Motorcycle Safety Foundation with their Take IT Easy motorcycle awareness campaigns in Daytona and Sturgis.

During his tenure, Piehl has been responsible for the development of the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.), harley-davidson.com, the Harley-Davidson traveling museum and the demo ride program. He has also helped launched some of the most innovative products in the company’s history, including the VRSCA V-Rod motorcycle, the Fat Boy motorcycle and the Twin-Cam 88 engine. He also led the media relations efforts for the company’s 100 th Anniversary, a 14-month event that featured festivals in ten cities around the world and raised over 7.2 million dollars for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

An avid rider, Piehl owned a motorcycle before ever owning a car. He currently owns a 2003 Electra Glide Classic.

Highway Safety Specialist
National Highway Traffic Safety

Marietta Bowen is currently a highway safety specialist in the Safety Countermeasures Division located in the Office of Program Development and Delivery at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Division is responsible for motorcycle, pedestrian, bicycle, school bus and older road user safety programs.

In December 2003, Marietta was assigned to manage NHTSA’s motorcycle safety program she formerly managed the bicycle safety program for the agency.
